About Me

Hi! I'm Ben Irastorza, a fourth-year Computer Science student at Georgia Tech. From building my first website in high school to assembling custom PCs for clients, I've always been interested in technology.

My experience includes building advanced Generative AI solutions, developing deep learning models for healthcare analytics, and creating real-time data-monitoring systems for grid stability, all while adhering to modern software development best practices and using industry-leading tools.

I also value collaboration and mentorship through my time as a Transfer2Tech Mentor, helping incoming transfer students succeed at Georgia Tech, and as a Founding Father of the Lambda Chi Alpha's Beta-Kappa chapter, helping foster a culture of leadership, community, and growth.

These experiences have shaped how I approach problem-solving and teamwork. Additionally, professional recommendations consistently highlight my ability to solve complex problems and deliver impactful results.

Outside of building software, I enjoy lifting weights, playing sports, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family.

I'm always open to chatting about new projects, AI, or just connecting. Feel free to reach out!

Developed the organization's most accurate winter peak demand forecast by implementing an XGBoost model with tailored meteorological features and data center load-growth analysis, reducing MAPE by 47%

Reduced data retrieval time by ~97% by developing a Python CLI tool leveraging the AVEVA PI Web API, replacing a manual Excel-based ingestion process with automated shell scripts for monthly analyses.

Engineered a real-time AVEVA PI Vision dashboard measuring data center load swings' impact on Area Control Error (ACE) deviations, giving management the evidence needed to pursue new operational regulations.

Python AVEVA PI Power BI

Advanced Analytics Intern - UCB Biopharma

May 2025 - Aug 2025

Enabled identification of undiagnosed patients and risk stratification by building a BERT-based model that encodes longitudinal claims data into dense embeddings, supporting patient journey clustering across large populations.

Strengthened risk assessment for an anti-seizure medication by developing a survival analysis model with left-truncation and right-censoring corrections, benchmarking internal outcomes against real-world evidence.

Validated drug usage patterns for a rare pediatric epilepsy disorder by running subpopulation analyses on Komodo claims data in Snowflake, surfacing prescribing trends that informed commercial strategy.

Python Snowflake Databricks

Software Engineer Intern - The Parker Avery Group
